Boeing’s troubled Starliner capsule is now emitting strange noises coming from a speaker, NASA astronaut said.
A NASA astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Butch Wilmore, reported hearing a “strange noise” coming from the Boeing Starliner days before its departure.
The Starliner is set to return to Earth on autopilot, landing in the New Mexico desert. Mission Control on the ground heard the sound and confirmed it without identifying the reason behind it.
Starliner Producing Ping Sonar Like Sound
Wilmore contacted Mission Control at Johnson Space Center in Houston, and described the noise as a pulsating sound.
The astronaut said the sonar like ping was coming from the speaker inside the spacecraft.
Wilmore was able to successfully play the noise for Mission Control, which confirmed hearing it and acknowledged the unusual nature of the sound.
Mission Control told Mr. Wilmore that they were sending the record for further investigation and he will be updated soon.
