SpaceX is preparing for its first-ever private spacewalk which is expected to take place during a mission called Polaris Dawn.
The spacewalk is scheduled to be launched next week with billionaire Jared Issacman joining the crew taking part in the outdoor activity.
One of the most dangerous parts of the mission is a spacewalk, which will be done without an airlock, unlike how NASA does it.
Not Attempted By Any Human Before
SpaceX plans to send a crew on a five-day mission aboard a specially modified Crew Dragon spacecraft.
This mission will take them up to 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) above Earth, the farthest humans have gone since the Apollo program.
A key part of the mission is a spacewalk planned for the third day. Unlike typical spacewalks on the International Space Station (ISS), this one will be done without an airlock.
An airlock in outer space is a small chamber that allows astronauts to move between the interior and the exterior of the space station.
