California Seizes $5 Million Worth Meth Packed in Fake Watermelon Papers

Officials from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in California seized $5 million worth of methamphetamine.

Officers spotted the substance hidden in packaging designed to resemble watermelons using K-9 dogs which found a total of 1,220 packages.

The CBD officials seized the tractor-trailer and handed over the suspect to homeland security for further inspection.

Packages Resembled Watermelons

To the shock of the CBD officials, the packages containing the drug were wrapped in a paper to resemble watermelons.

It was not made clear what the smugglers were thinking while packing the substance in something that was obviously recognizable.

The discoveries in California marked the third such incident where the CBD had seized methamphetamine wrapped in either veggies or fruits.

Substance Was Tested and Confirmed

The CBD officials tested the substance they seized in the container in a lab and confirmed that it was indeed methamphetamine worth $5 million.

The CBD officials said that fake fruit and veggie papers to conceal drugs is a tactic that has been employed by traffickers a lot in recent years.
