US Army Sergeant Pleads Guilty To Selling Secrets To China

A US army sergeant has pleaded guilty to selling highly sensitive documents to the Chinese government.

According to the FBI and the DOJ, Sgt Korbein Schultz was arrested for giving away classified information to China for $42,000.

The New York Times claimed that Mr. Schultz could face up to 65 years in prison over bribery and conspiracy to sell military documents to China.

Schultz Received 14 Payments

The Department of Justice alleged that Mr. Schultz, a former intelligence analyst, received 14 payments totaling to around $42,000 in two years.

The documents were related to US rocket systems and Chinese military tactics that the People’s Liberation Army will use to fight wars.

FBI Still Investigating

The FBI and Counterintelligence department said that they are still investigating what other things Schultz might have sold.

An alleged handler with whom Schultz was in contact asked for information about military tactics, US fighter aircraft, and the US military’s defense strategy for Taiwan, court mentioned.
