The Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has officially endorsed the new reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian after weeks of election victory.
The ceremony held in Tehran was attended by the country’s highest civil and military leadership along with diplomats.
The official inauguration ceremony will be held tomorrow which is expected to be attended by some of the world leaders.
Iran’s New Reformist President
The new Iranian President, who ran for office to reform Iranian society, has expressed optimism to sit on the table with the West about regional issues.
He has even hinted at resuming the Iranian nuclear deal in return for softening western sanctions against the Iranian economy.
But geopolitical experts believe the statements are nothing more than words as the real power in Iran rests with the Supreme leader.
Softening sanctions on Iran amid a highly volatile situation in the Middle East could make the country willing to make concessions, experts say.
