A California man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly causing the state’s largest wildfire this year.
Authorities said that the man intentionally pushed a burning car into a gully, leading to the massive Park fire near Chico.
The fire has since then burned more than 160,000 acres of land within days.
How It Began?
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said people caught Ronnie Dean Stout as he pushed a flaming car into a gully and burned the area on impact.
The authorities have not yet released other details about the man and his intentions.
The Park fire began in Chico’s Upper Bidwell Park, an area beloved for hiking and swimming.
Fire officials are concerned that hot, windy conditions will make the fires worse as they help in spreading it more quickly.
According to CalFire, the fire is the largest in the state with only 3% under control.
