Scientists Finds Evidence of An Underground Cave On The Moon

Scientists have found new evidence of an underground cave on the moon’s surface.

The cave, identified through radar data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), measures about 45 meters wide and 80 meters long, situated 150 meters beneath the surface.

Researchers said that the cave could provide a great site for possible lunar bases as the thick walls of the underground cave will protect humans from temperatures.

Cave For Future Lunar Expeditions

NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) radar data revealed that this is the deepest known pit ever discovered on the moon surface.

It can provide a great shelter for future missions on the moon as they can protect against high temperatures.

The caves may also contain water ice, a resource Bruzzone said was essential for long-term lunar missions and colonization, the research noted.

The research published in Nature Astronomy revealed that at least 200 pits have been discovered so far and space agencies are thinking of exploiting them.
