Ukraine Uses Dummy Military Targets To Trick Russian Forces

The Ukrainian military has tricked the Russian Air Force by creating dummy fighter jets and runways, according to a top Ukrainian commander.

Air force commander Mykola Oleshchuk said the fighter jets that Russian forces claimed to have destroyed in the city of Kryvyi Rih were actually fake and were intentionally placed there as a self defense measure.

Passive Defense Measures

The Russian defense ministry initially shared a video of one of its drones hitting a Ukrainian Mig-29 fighter jet at the Dovhyntseve airfield.

The Ukrainian Commander Mykola Oleshchuk referred to the same video and said the fighter jet and the airfield was fake to trick the Russian Air Force.

Mr. Oleshchuk thanked those who constructed the mock-up fighter jets and air defense systems and called it “passive defense measures”.

The Ukrainian military has stayed silent on revealing such information to the media but Mr. Oleshchuk did so, he claimed, to raise public’s trust in the armed forces.
