An eight years-old Pekingese dog has been crowned as the world’s ugliest dog in the ugliest dog competition held in California.
The event took place at the 2024 Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California, featuring eight contestants, most of whom were rescued from shelters.
First Victory
Wild Thang has competed in the World’s Ugliest Dog competition five times before, but this is his first victory, The Guardian reported.
His distinctive appearance is due to a bout of canine distemper when he was a 10-week-old puppy, which affected his teeth growth and caused a muscular disorder in one of his legs.
Top Three Positions
Wild Thang and his owner, Ann Lewis, will receive a $5,000 prize and an appearance on NBC’s The Today Show.
Second place went to Rome, a 14-year-old pug in a wheelchair, who earned $3,000 in his first contest entry.
Third place was awarded to Daisy Mae, a 14-year-old mixed-breed dog with a white coat.
