New York police have asked for the termination of former President Donald Trump’s gun license following his recent criminal conviction, according to US media reports.
Sources within the New York City Police Department told CNN, the New York Times, and ABC News that an investigation is underway that will likely lead to Trump being banned from owning a firearm.
Sources Have Confirmed The Move
The police department has not publicly confirmed this move regarding Trump but multiple sources have confirmed the move being underway.
Police sources told the New York Times that Trump handed over two guns after he was charged last April and his license was suspended.
A third firearm was reportedly transferred to Florida, but it’s unclear if he still possesses it.
Trump’s Conviction
Last week, Trump became the first US president in history to be criminally convicted.
A Manhattan jury found him guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records to allegedly hide a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign.
