North Korea has sent a barrage of balloons filled with filthy trash over its southern neighbor.
According to media reports, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea sent 260 trash balloons over South Korea in retaliation for South Korean activists continuously sending leaflets and rubbish in the border areas.
Trash Found in Almost All Provinces
The trash balloons landed in eight out of the nine provinces of South Korea, the military said.
The South Korea’s military urged the public against touching the “filthy waste and trash” as they were afraid people might find lethal material.
Both the South and North have used balloons for propaganda and social engineering programs against one another for decades.
Some Balloons Had Feces
Media reports suggested that some of the balloons had human and animal excreta upon landing on ground.
“Some of the fallen balloons carried what appears to be feces judging from its dark color and odor,” Yonhap news agency reported.
