The police in Washington state successfully managed to save a teen hiker who survived a 400-foot fall down a canyon with only “minimal injuries.”
The police said the 19-year-old was rescued after he fell from a trail, sliding towards a river but the injuries are not life-threatening.
Authorities Have Warned Public
The teenager, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken to a hospital for medical check up and he was provided first aid.
Authorities have warned people to avoid hiking in the area, describing it as hazardous for both walkers and rescuers.
“We’ve told people to stay off these trails because they’re dangerous, but people either haven’t seen the warning signs or are disregarding them,” a police officer who saved the teen hiker said.
The High Steel Bridge, used in the rescue, spans the Skokomish River and was formerly used for railway transport.
