Venezuela Becomes World’s 2nd Country To Lose of All Its Glaciers

Venezuela has officially become the world’s second country to lose all of its glaciers due to climate change.

According to the latest scientific assessments, the country has lost all six glaciers in Sierra Nevada and its mountains no longer crown glaciers.

Venezuela and Slovenia are now the only two nations to have lost all of its glaciers to global warming, scientists said.

Ice Too Small To Be Called Glaciers

According to a scientific advocacy group known as the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative, whatever that remains on the mountains in Venezuela can’t be classified as glaciers.

The group referred to the only ice- covered mountain of Venezuela, the Humboldt, which has not received enough ice in the past 25 years.

The Sad Loss

The event paints a grim picture of what is about to happen to other glaciers around the world if the world keeps on heating up.

The change is irreversible and it will only keep going forward with no end in sight.
