Scientists say they have credible evidence that the Ukraine war has forced Eagles to change their routes.
The reasons for such a dramatic shift is daily shelling and bombardments that Ukrainian cities have been subjected to.
GPS data has revealed that greater spotted eagles are not lurking near the Ukrainian territory due to constant noise and destruction caused by the war.
Conflict’s Impact on Wildlife
In the research paper published in the journal Current Biology, scientists have revealed that the Ukrainian conflict is playing a key role in deterring eagles from their habitats.
The findings suggest the eagles traveled an extra 53 miles (85km) on average after the invasion.
The Greater Spotted Eagles Are Endangered
The Greater Spotted Eagle have already been classified as vulnerable species due to a range of reasons i.e. destruction of habitats and collision with human made objects.
Researchers warned that the continuity of war could wipe out the species as a whole.
