As domestic tourism flourishes in China, foreign tourist numbers are marking a record low in the country.
The Chinese cultural ministry noted that the country saw 295 million trips within China in last week’s five-day public holiday.
But the numbers are not quite impressive when it comes to foreign tourism, as the number lag behind 2019 by 30%.

Western tourists are increasingly worried about the Chinese government’s stricter grip on regulating the life of its people, 2023 peer-reviewed research by Huang Songshan revealed.
“Most individuals in Western nations hold unfavorable views towards China,” the researcher wrote.
The US has warned its citizens to reconsider traveling to mainland China due to the “risk of wrongful detentions,” the BBC wrote.
Washington only permits 50 flights per week to and from China, which is 100 flights short of the pre-covid times.
