Yemen-based Houthis have asked the students suspended from the US Universities over Gaza protests to come and study in Yemeni educational institutes.
The group said it was serious about giving refuge to students who were suspended or threatened to study and complete their education in Yemen.
The Offer is Serious
The militia, labelled as terrorist organization by the US, said they were serious about the offer and could happily accept students and academics wishing to study in Yemen.
An official from Sana’a University in Yemen told Reuters that “we are serious about welcoming students that have been suspended from U.S. universities for supporting Palestinians.”
US Campus Protests
The Houthis made the announcement after more than 2,000 students were arrested from different US Universities over Gaza protests.
According to an Associated Press tally, Arrests have been made on at least 38 occasions since 18 April, when the protests started.
The protestors have been calling over their institute’s administrations to divest from companies profiting from Israel’s war on Gaza.
