French Report Says Children Must Not Use Mobile Phones Until 13

According to a report published by the French President’s commissioned experts, children must not be allowed to use smartphones until they are 13 years old.

The experts suggested strict guidelines and said children must avoid smartphones keeping in mind the adverse effects caused by them.

There Might Be Bans

The public is in disarray as to what the government would do after the report was published.

The French President has openly declared that his government might ban the use entirely or impose restrictions on its usage.

The report also highlighted the need for better education on the importance of sleep for teenagers as screen use negatively affects the sleep patterns.

Children Were Becoming Merchandise

The report used the word “merchandise” while referring to attention driven strategies of big data tech companies.

“We want [the industry] to know we’ve seen what they’re doing and we won’t let them get away with it,” the report reiterated.
