Scientists have warned that the next pandemic is likely to be caused by the flu virus.
According to an International survey that is scheduled to be published, 57% of senior disease experts believe that Influenza virus is most likely to cause the next pandemic.
The experts said Influenza virus strains are constantly evolving and in the near future, it’ll take an uncontrollable shape to cause a global problem.
Little Pandemics Already Happening
Researcher Jon Salmanton-García, who led the research study, said humanity must remain vigilant as little pandemics are already taking place across the planet.
He pointed out that influenza virus resurfaces every winter and acts like a smaller pandemic but it is controllable because the “different strains that cause them are not virulent enough.”
Details Will Be Published Next Weekend
The scientists also revealed the second most likely cause of pandemic in the future which is Disease X, which remains unknown at the moment.
The specific details of the research study will be published next weekend at European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) congress in Barcelona.
