Former climate chief under the Obama administration said the so-called “grown up” leaders are failing us in tackling the climate crisis.
Todd Stern, who served as a special envoy for climate change under Barack Obama said world leaders are pushing the world towards deeper catastrophe.
Grown Ups Are Failing Us
Mr. Stern warned that those who think of themselves as “grown ups” call the decarbonisation process as unrealistic despite knowing there is a solution.
“It’s really hard [to push for more urgency] because those ‘grownups’ have a lot of influence,” Stern told the Observer.
Stern helped negotiate the crucial 2015 Paris agreement which Donald Trump later exited from.
Trump Would Frustrate Climate Action
Stern warned that the delaying tactics are leading humanity towards a disaster from which we wouldn’t be able to recover.
“If Donald Trump were to be elected this November, the US would exit the Paris agreement and frustrate climate action globally,” he said.
