The climate chief of the United Nations warned that humanity has two years to fix the planet otherwise the consequences will be harsh.
Simon Stiell issued a stark warning, claiming that humanity has just two years to implement drastic measures to combat greenhouse gas emissions and cool the planet.
Mr. Stiell emphasized the urgency of the situation, citing looming deadlines for governments worldwide to implement climate reduction policies by 2025.
Collective Action Required
During a speech at the Chatham House think tank in London, Stiell emphasized that addressing the climate crisis requires collective action across societies and political spectrums.
Stiell underscored the impact of climate change on the common man.
“Who exactly has two years to save the world? The answer is every person on this planet,” Stiell said.
G20 Need To Step Up
Stiell said the G20 countries have responsibility on their heads as they are the primary drivers of the modern climate crisis.
The G20 countries are responsible for 80% of the world’s greenhouse gasses and if they fail to do anything about it, the entire world will pay the price, he said.
