US Accuses Apple of Monopolizing Smartphone Market

Dutch Watchdog Fines Apple 5 Million Euros For Failure To Comply On App Store

The United States government has accused the tech giant of monopolizing the smartphone market by preventing competition.

The US Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing it of abusing its control of the iPhone app store and limiting access to its software and hardware.

The lawsuit alleges that the company engages in a “broad, sustained, and illegal course of conduct”.

Apple is Threat To Free Market

The US attorney general, Merrick Garland, said in a press conference that the tech giant is threatening the free and fair market, contradicting what the economy is all about.

“Apple has maintained its power not because of its superiority, but because of its unlawful exclusionary behavior,” Garland said.

Apple Rejects Accusations

Meanwhile, Apple has rejected the accusations and has vowed to fight against the lawsuit that threatens the core principles of the company.

“We believe this lawsuit is wrong on the facts and the law, and we will vigorously defend against it,” the company said.
