Only half of South Korea’s population is willing to get married, with even less than that not ready to have children, a survey has revealed.
The survey showed that men were more willing to get married than women, putting the country at risk of collapse.
56% of the male respondents said they were ready to settle their lives with a partner, with only 47.2% of women expressing a desire to marry a male partner.
Couples Having Less Children
Among married couples, most of the respondents showed little to no desire to have children.
The survey results showed that only 46.5% of couples were willing to have children, with a whopping 76.1% saying they’ll not have more than one child.
Almost 93% of respondents agreed that declining birth rates in South Korea is a “social problem,” and the major cause is “difficulty in combining work and childcare,” the Star reported.
