A helicopter patrolling the US-Mexico border has crashed in Texas, killing two border guards and seriously wounding another one.
The UH-72 Lakota helicopter flying on the border was assigned to check the security on the border but went down due to unknown reasons, according to the US military.
Names Not Released Yet
The US military has not released the names of those who have died in the crash.
According to initial reports, the crash took place mid-afternoon when the chopper carrying one woman and three men was conducting aviation operations on the border.
The Starr County sheriff’s office said the officials are investigating the incident and assisting federal authorities.
Cause Unknown
The US military has not commented on why the helicopter crashed in the first place.
The helicopter was flying as part of Operation Lone Star, a joint border mission of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Military Department to control the border.
