The Pentagon said that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for an emergent boulder problem.
US top military advisor transferred his duties to his deputy of defense Kathleen Hicks.
This is the secretary’s second hospitalization; the Pentagon didn’t disclose his first hospitalization in December 2023.
Austin Hospitalized Once Again
In a statement, the Pentagon revealed that the Defense Secretary faced a problem with symptoms of an emergent bladder issue.
The Pentagon didn’t provide further details about the problem, but a statement later said he was admitted to the critical care unit.
The statement said the bladder issue is “not expected to change his anticipated full recovery.”
Duration of Hospitalization Not Confirmed
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center said the Defense Secretary was later admitted to a critical care unit after a series of tests and evaluations.
“Updates on the Secretary’s condition will be provided as soon as possible,” the Medical Center said in the press release.
