US Foreign Weapon Sales Reached Record $238 Billion in 2023

US defense sales rose sharply to a record high in 2023 to $238 billion.

The US government negotiated sales rose by 56% as compared to 2022, thanks to Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.

Apart from $81 billion, the remaining $157 billion was sold directly by the US defense companies to foreign governments, mostly European countries.

Following is the list of major buyers of US military equipment:

Poland

Poland bought almost $30 billion worth of military equipment, including Apache helicopters, High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, and M1A1 Abrams tanks.

Australia

Australia spent $6.3 billion on C130J-30 Super Hercules planes.

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic imported $5.6 billion worth of US-made military equipment.

Germany

Germany spent $8.5 billion on 60 Chinook helicopters in May 2023.

Bulgaria

Bulgaria paid $1.5 billion for Stryker armored vehicles.

South Korea

South Korea bought next-generation F-35 fighter jets for $5 billion in 2023.
