Major Emergency Response As Three Explosions Shock New York City

Three small explosions were heard a few hours back in New York City’s Roosevelt Island.

Emergency response teams and the New York Police Department officers arrived at the scene at 580 block of Main Street.

The nearby residents said they felt three explosions and were woken up at around 5.54 am.

Cause of Explosions

The initial police investigation revealed that the cause of the explosion could be a transformer.

The officials didn’t elaborate on what caused the transformer to explode or where it occurred specifically.

The New York City Fire Department said that no one was injured and the infrastructure remained intact.

According to ABC7, the nearby buildings lost electricity when the explosions occurred.

The NYPD said they are still at the scene and investigating the cause of the explosion.

Residents have been warned to expect road closures and electricity outages.

“Expect road closures, mass transit disruptions and emergency personnel near Roosevelt Island. Use alternate routes,” New York City notification said.
