Olympic Gold Medalist Home Detained For 6 Jan Riots

Olympic gold medalist swimmer Klete Keller received a six-month home detention sentence on Friday.

Klete Keller participated in the Capitol Hill riots and was caught on camera.

Mr Keller was the first protestor who publicly agreed to cooperate with law enforcement agencies investigating the incident.

Home Detention

Video evidence captured Mr Keller raising disrespectful chants against Democratic leaders and resisting police efforts.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leon imposed three years of probation, including six months of home detention and 360 hours of community service.

The judge believed Keller’s time could be better spent educating youth about avoiding such mistakes.

Keller Threw U.S. Flag To Trash

Mr. Keller wore a jacket with an American flag printed over it and threw it into a crash can when he was coming back from the riots.

“Klete Derik Keller once wore the American flag as an Olympian. On January 6, 2021, he threw that flag in a trash can,” prosecutors wrote.
