The Russian President has asked women to have more babies in order to compensate for the losses in the Ukraine war.
While speaking to the online audience, he said it is impossible to tackle Russia’s demographic problem with money and other benefits.
Russians Should Embrace Traditions
While speaking to the audience via video link at the World Russian People’s Council, Russian President Vladamir Putin urged Russian mothers to have 7 to 8 children.
He justified himself by referring to the old Russian woman who used to have more than five children.
“Having many children, a large family, should become a norm, a way of life for all the peoples of Russia”, he said.
Critics Speculate Russian Losses
Critics have blamed Putin for invading Ukraine, which in turn declined the birth rate.
According to Jens Stoltenberg, NATO’s chief, Russia has lost more than 300,000 troops in its war in Ukraine.
According to Daily Mail, the Russian population dropped by 550,000 during the first year of the invasion.
