Canada Bans Keeping Monkeys & Elephants in Captivity

Canada has banned keeping elephants and monkeys in captivity and under unnatural environments.

The ban came after legislation was put forward to introduce regulations to safeguard the species from pain and cruelty.

The bill has laid strict rules for keeping animals in captivity for entertainment.

Bill Aims To Protect Animals

Senator Marky Klyne of Saskatchewan introduced the animal welfare bill and criticized the current animal welfare standards.

She said it was upsetting that a person is not entitled to hold a permit for captivating a Chimpanzee in some regions of Canada.

The bill also discussed the importance of keeping animals in certain cases.
