Tesla CEO Elon Musk has launched his own AI chatbot to counter ChatGPT.
The Grok chatbot is designed to challenge industry heavyweights like OpenAI, Google, and Meta.
Grok leverages real-time access to data from X, a social media platform acquired by Musk for $44 billion a year ago.
Announcing Grok!
— xAI (@xai) November 5, 2023
Grok is an AI modeled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so intended to answer almost anything and, far harder, even suggest what questions to ask!
Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use…
Sarcasm & Humor
Musk said Grok can sprinkle sarcasm and humour, aiming to differentiate it in a competitive market.
The new chatbot will be less formal and more personal, giving Grok a real personality.
The chatbot can even tackle edgy questions that other AI systems might shy away from, according to xAI.

Chatbot Available to Premium+ Users
Grok will be available for testing by X users exclusively through the app’s “Premium+” service, Elon Musk said.
Testing will cost $16 to test the newly developed chatbot.
AI chatbots have become a field of competition for tech giants recently, raising concerns about humanity’s losing grip over it.
