Hamburg Airport in Germany remained closed on Sunday after an unexpected hostage situation.
The German police said the suspect had taken a four-year-old kid hostage in a vehicle which remains parked under a plane.
Security officials are in constant contact with the driver of the car.
Suspect is Armed
According to the initial report, the suspect is armed with a gun, which is making the situation difficult.
The Hamburg police spokeswoman Sandra Levgruen said the situation was tense, and they don’t know the exact nature of the suspect’s motivation.
“We also have to consider that he (suspect) possibly has some explosive devices with him,” the spokeswoman said.
Police said the suspect drove his vehicle to the airport’s apron and fired two times.
Custody Dispute
The authorities dealing with the situation have said that the situation involves a “custody dispute.”
Levgruen said the suspect rejected the decision of authorities about the custody arrangement and now wanted to travel to Turkey with his child.
So far, the police have not been able to convince the suspect about another option.
