US Soldier Who Crossed into North Korea is Back in US Custody

The US has secured the release of one of its soldiers who crossed the border into North Korea two months ago. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Army Private Travis King is back in US custody as he thanked partner countries who helped in securing his release.

Why did Travis King Cross North Korea’s Border?

Travis King, who was in South Korea as part of his rotation, said he was treated humanely by his fellow soldiers in the US army. He told the Korean Central News Agency that he crossed the border to escape the “inequality existing within the American Society”.

Sweden & China Helped US

When the national security advisor announced King’s comeback, he thanked Sweden and China for their diplomatic role. King, who is now under US custody in China, will be brought back to the US but the timeframe is still not clear.
