The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations was detained by the security for breaching the protocol.
When the Iranian President Raisi started his speech at the general assembly, the Israeli ambassador Gilad Erdan protested by holding a photo of Mahsa Amini, who died in the custody of Iran’s morality police.
UN Security Detained Erdan
Mr. Gilad Erdan was seen holding a play card with a caption reading, “Iranian women deserve freedom now!”
The play card was aimed at the brutal suppression of protesters carried out by the Iranian regime after the death of Mahsa Amini, 22. The death of Amini sparked country wide protests which went on for months but were suppressed by the government.
Raisi Didn’t Notice Erdan
The Iranian President didn’t appear to notice Erdan as he spoke to the gathering of world leaders at the UN general assembly.
Erdan’s protest was almost entirely ignored in the assembly but caused uproar on social media. Most of the people were quick to remind the ambassador about the atrocities committed by their own government in the past 7 decades.
