The son of the infamous drug cartel leader El Chapo has been extradited from Mexico to the United States. The US justice department announced that Ovidio Guzmán was extradited to the US after spending months in Mexico prison.
Ovidio Headed Sinaloa Cartel
El-Chapo’s son has been accused of leading the Sinaloa cartel, one of the world’s most dangerous and largest drug trafficking organizations.
The cartel was founded by Ovidio’s father, who is currently serving his life sentence at ADX Florence Supermax prison in Colorado, US.
The investigators also accuse Ovidio of executing a popular Mexican singer, who refused to perform in his wedding.
Ovidio Has Landed In Chicago
Assistant US Attorney Joseph D. Fitzpatrick told the media that Ovidio landed in Chicago on Friday afternoon.
The initial court appearance is expected to take place on Monday, but the date has not been finalized officially. The CNN said they were looking to identify Ovidio’s attorney for comment.
