Seattle police oversight agency is currently conducting an investigation following an incident in which an officer, Daniel Auderer, is heard making “jokes” about a 23 year old woman who was struck by another officer while crossing the road.

Graduate student Jaahnavi Kandula was on the crosswalk during the night of January 23rd when a police officer, Kevin Dave, who was driving 74 mph right before the collision. The speed limit posted on the road was 25 mph.
Officer is heard saying: “Eleven thousand dollars. She was 26, anyway,” he said, misstating Kandula’s age. “She had limited value.”
Police department stated that they are in touch with the family and have opened a third party investigation into the matter.
