UK Arrests Two Researchers For Spying For China

The UK has arrested two men accused of spying for the Chinese government. The suspects disguised themselves as researchers at the UK parliament and were linked to some conservative members of the parliament.

The UK Prime Minister raised the issue with the Chinese Foreign Minister at the G20 summit, BBC reported.

Suspects Were Linked To UK Ministers

As per The Sunday Times report, both the suspects were closely linked to the United Kingdom’s Security Minister Tom Tugendhat and chairwoman foreign affairs committee Alicia Kearns. The suspects were in their 20s and 30s and the police had conducted proper search operations on their residences.

China’s Increasing Espionage Operations

Security and espionage experts have noticed a spike in China’s spying operations across the US, Canada and Europe. Last year, the British Intelligence Service issued an alert regarding the activities of UK-based lawyer Christine Lee, accusing her of political interference in the UK.
