Canada PM Justin Trudeau & Wife Separate After 18 Years

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire ended their 18 years of marriage. The couple has signed a separation agreement, but they are yet to make it public in the coming weeks. Trudeau and Sophie married in 2005 and have three children, with the eldest being 15-year-old.

Couple To Remain A Close Family

After announcing the separation in an Instagram post, Trudeau and Sophie said they will remain a close family in the future. “We remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built”, the Instagram post said. The couple was rarely seen together in the public but no one could speculate that they have been thinking about separating from each other.

Couple First Met As Youths

Justin Trudeau and Sophie met as youth in Montreal when Sophie was class-fellow with Trudeau’s younger brother. They were in contact as adults in 2003 but finally decided to marry in 2005. Sophie has remained a public figure since Trudeau was elected as Prime Minister in 2015.
