A video recently circulating on social media shows a Greek firefighting plane crashing into the mountains. According to the Greece local media, the firefighting plane crashed over the town of Karystos on the island of Evia near Athens.
Plane Had No Ejection System
Social media videos showed a yellow low-flying firefighting plane releasing water over the wildfires that have been blazing for a few days now. The plane disappeared behind a canyon before it burst into flames. According to Greek officials, the plane had no ejection system and both pilots are feared dead.
Greece Wildfires
Wildfires have been blazing in Greece since 21 July and have burned thousands of hectares of land. Over 30,000 people have been displaced since the day the wildfires broke out due to extreme heat waves that struck Europe this summer.
