According to a report by the Health Foundation, there will be a 9 million people with conditions like cancer, diabetes, and kidney disease in England by 2040. The rise is estimated to reach 2.5 million, representing a shocking 37% increase when compared to the data from 2019.

The data from Health Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to improve the health system in the UK, mentioned that 1 out of 5 people across England will face major health problems. The data presents a bleak picture of the future where the healthy working population will only increase by 4%. The drastic changes are expected to drastically increase the burden on the NHS, which has already been struggling in the last 10 years.
Careful Planning Required
Toby Watt, a lead economist at the Real Centre said the problem is global and we still have enough time to prepare ourselves for the worst case scenario. “Managing these pressures is achievable with careful planning,” he said.
