Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg was asked to hand over documents about content moderation of Meta’s latest application called Threads. The development was made on the basis of previous subpoenas sent by the government to the 5 tech giants to reveal their content moderation policies.
Threads Raises Serious Concerns
Threads have raised concerns for the public and the lawmakers, specifically in Europe, due to the company’s previous records. When Threads was launched, twitter users were not shocked to see the amount of data the app was storing. “Indeed, Threads raises serious specific concerns”, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan told the Wall Street Journal.
Old Subpoena Applies To Meta
Jordan stated that the committee’s subpoena on February 15, which was directed to Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta, and Microsoft, applies to Meta despite its recent launch this month. Meta has not yet responded to the developments yet
