Suspect Opens Fire Near US Consulate in Saudi Arabia

A suspect was neutralized by Saudi security guards after he opened fire near the US consulate. The suspect, whose motives are still shrouded in mystery, stopped his car near the Us consulate in Jeddah and exchanged fire with the security guards, killing one security guard and injuring another.

Saudi Security Responded Swiftly

As soon as the suspect fired first shoots, the Saudi consulate guards responded immediately and killed him on the spot. One Saudi consulate guard was killed in exchange of fire with the assailant, the Saudi press said. The nationality of the gunman is still unknown and the Saudi police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

No American Hurt

The US state department later issued a statement confirming that no American has been hurt in the shootout. “We offer our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased local guards member,” the state department said in a statement.
