A woman who shot an Uber driver on Friday has revealed that she thought she was being kidnapped and taken to Mexico. She shot the Uber driver and also took photos of him being injured, the Texas police revealed. The 48-year-old Phoebe Copas was arrested after she fatally shot 52-year-old Daniel Piedra Garcia, who was later transferred to hospital in critical condition.
Copas Was Visiting Her Boyfriend
According to the Police, Copas booked an uber driver to visit her boyfriend at Speaking Rock Casino. While driving, she noticed a traffic sign which said “Juarez, Mexico”, due to which she thought she was being silently kidnapped and taken to Mexico. The woman took out her gun and shot the driver, causing the vehicle to crash at U.S. 54 South.
Copas Took The Photo
According to the arrest document Copas never bothered to call emergency services or 911 to report the incident. She, instead, took a photo of the injured Uber driver who was bleeding from an injury to his head and wrist. Copas was charged with Aggravated Assault and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
