A Dutch sailing team named JOJO was attacked by three orcas, also known as killer whales. The team of sailors caught the incident on video and said the moment was both terrifying and beautiful as they narrowly escaped them in the waters.
The Orcas Got Tired
At first, the sailors thought they wouldn’t be able to get rid of the animals but after some tries, they managed to escape. The incident took place in the strait of Gibraltar where the Dutch sailing team was taking part in the 2023 Ocean Race. The attack lasted for 15 minutes and the sailing team managed to scare the orcas away by making noises and decreasing the speed.
The Boat Was Not Damaged
Fortunately, neither the boat nor any of the team members were hurt during the 15-minute encounter with the delicate animals. In the past few months, multiple boats sailing in the water off the coast of Spain and Portugal, have been damaged by the orcas and the reasons are shrouded in mystery.
