The increasing temperatures around the globe have been ringing the alarm for an extremely dangerous future for inhabitants of earth. According to a recent study comprising of international scientists, Glaciers in Asia’s Hindu Kush Himalaya are expected to lose 75% of its ice by the end of this century.
Ice Melting is 65% Faster
According to the environmental report by the Kathmandu-based International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, the Himalayan Glacier has started melting 65% faster since 2010. The leading author of the study, Philippus Wester suggested that the region is losing glaciers and we have less than 100 years to deal with it.
2 Billion People under Threat
The melting glaciers have already unraveled its impact when the floods hit Pakistan where 33 million people were displaced and 1,500 killed last year. The melting of the Himalayan glaciers could affect 2 million people living down the stream, the study said.
