3,000-Year-Old Well Preserved Sword Discovered in Germany

Archeologists have unearthed a shining sword which is believed to be at least 3,000-year-old. The ancient sword was discovered at a burial site in the largest German state of Bavaria. According to the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the sword is so well preserved that it still shines and was found during excavations last week in Noerdlingen.

Sword Was Placed Inside Grave

The archeologists working on the site discovered a grave in which three people, a man, a woman and a little boy, were found besides the sword. The Bavaria’s state office stated that they could not verify the relationship of the three with each other and the sword, which was unusually placed inside the grave.

The Sword Could be A Burial Gift

Although the archeologists couldn’t verify the exact purpose, they speculated that the sword could have been a burial gift. Most of the ancient graves the archeologists have unearthed around the globe have inorganic objects such as pottery, metal tools and even stones, which is why the sword could also be a symbol of respect and honor to the dead ones.
