Farmers have turned to Artificial Intelligence to keep an eye on the population of birds in the fields. The technology is helping the farmers to better understand the wildlife health and diversity of bird species. The BBC report mentioned Peter Cheek, the farm manager for Godminster Farm, who has been using the technology to collect bird sounds to know about the security of his crops.
Chirrup AI software
The Chirrup AI software developed by Conrad Young can record high quality audio of up to 100 meters of radius. The small monsters are collected by the company after operating for 14 days straight and then data is shared with the farmers to have a better understanding of the richness of life on the soil. The software records all the sounds and comes up with the annual report of how many species are thriving on the farm,
AI Revolutionizing Farming
Mr Cheek told the BBA that the new AI technique was more affordable and easier and the farm is a lot healthier than before. Contrary to the conventional wisdom that AI is here to destroy humanity, if used properly, it can have revolutionary benefits. Farming isn’t going anywhere as our food depends on it, but AI technology can significantly improve the way farmers engage with agriculture.
