UK Security Services Say AI Can Increase Terrorism In Future

AI technology became the target of criticism once again as UK’s secret services are worried that the technology could increase terrorism if it was not tackled properly. Jonathan Hall KC said that AI could pose a threat to national security and new technologies must be developed so as to minimize the effect.

AI Could Groom Vulnerable Individuals

Jonathan Hall KC who was appointed by the Home Secretary as an Independent Reviewer of terrorism related legislations said that AI’s anti-security role has become more apparent and tech giants needed to take terrorism in perspective. He said AI powered chatbots are dangerous as they can groom vulnerable individuals to commit acts of terrorism.

UK Ready To Confront AI Challenges

The UK secret services have joined hands with the Alan Turing Institute to confront the challenges posed by AI to national security. Alan Turing Institute, which is the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence, along with the M15, will tackle the problem of AI and reduce its negative impact on society.
