Eight dead bodies were recovered from St. Lawrence River, located at the US-Canada border. According to the border officials, the eight bodies were of the migrants that were trying to cross the border illegally to the United States.
Bodies Of Two families
Six out of the eight dead bodies in a marshy area of the St. Lawrence River belonged to two families of Indian and Romanian descent. Two minors, both Canadian citizens, also lost their lives while crossing the border to the US, the police told the reporters. The area has been popular for human smuggling with 48 incidents this year alone.
Casey Oakes Still Missing
All the eight dead bodies were discovered when the Akwesasne Mohawk were searching for Casey Oakes, a 30 year old who was last seen boarding a small vessel on Thursday. Casey’s family reported him missing after which the police and firefighter authorities sent several volunteers to look for him, but they couldn’t find him.
