A migrant ship sank after it crashed with rocks near the southern coast of Italy. Shipwreck killed 59 including 12 children, the authorities said. The wooden boat struck a rock in a stormy sea off the coast of the Calabria region. About 150 people were on board when the boat came in the merciless sea waves and the search for others is still underway.
80 People Recovered Alive
With the help of search and rescue teams, at least 80 people were recovered while some are still missing. Most of those on board were from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Iran. The boat took off from the Turkish city of Izmir three days, according to a local government official.
Corpses Floating Everywhere
Medical teams reached the site immediately when a few months old baby was found dead on the beach. At the time when medical teams arrived, “we saw corpses floating everywhere,” Laura De Paoli, an emergency doctor said.
