Researchers from two well-known research institutes, Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (MPI CBS) and University of Leipzig Medical Center, have used the latest AI technology to detect rare forms of dementia. The conditions included Alzheimer’s disease and many other conditions that primarily affect language and activities of motor neurons.
Early Diagnoses
The new techniques will enable the researchers to identify and prevent the worst-case scenario for patients in the earlier stages. Schroeter and his colleague Leonie Lampe utilized cutting-edge machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques in their study to diagnose illnesses such as orphan diseases and Aphasia that mostly occur at an early age.
Researchers Diagnosed Aphasia
Researchers were able to detect and diagnose a rare condition known as aphasia, with 2 million people having this condition in the United States. Aphasia is a language disorder caused by damage to a specific area in the brain. Experts will be able to control such illnesses “even if the course of these diseases progresses,” Matthias Schroeter, A researcher at MPI CBS said.
